Noosa Hotels Guide
Queensland, Australia
Regularly voted as one of Australia's best holiday destinations, the relaxed yet stylish beach-side town of Noosa, at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast, is a place where the phrase 'La Dolca Vita' (The Good Life) applies perfectly. The town is renowned for its powder-white beaches, lush natural setting and its famous restaurant strip, Hastings Street.

Noosa's Main Beach is calm and inviting, due its north-facing aspect. This makes it a great place for families and people learning to surf (lessons are easily arranged) and the water temperature is perfect for swimming all year round. At the northern end of the beach a large estuary funnels into Noosa River, a pristine waterway lined with affluent homes and leading to a series of lakes, known as the Noosa Everglades, which can be explored by kayak, river cruise or canoe.
Back in the main town area, Hastings Street is the hub of the tourist strip with a style all of its own, probably best summed up as 'casual sophistication'. Leafy and pedestrian-friendly, visitors flock to the designer stores, chic cafés and alfresco dining restaurants along its wide, paved length. At dusk, the street comes alive with warm lighting, music and laughter, as guests enjoy the myriad of restaurant options including the most famous: Lindoni's, Jasper's and Bistro C. For dessert, pick up an ice-cream from one of the many stores dotted along the street (Massimo's is the local favourite – be prepared for a wait!). Noosa actually has another two town areas: The main shopping precinct is slightly inland and mostly frequented by locals whilst another tourist strip is found along the Noosa River.
Noosa is nestled into the protected shores of Laguna Bay and surrounded by the UNESCO-listed Noosa National Park, which protects a unique coastal eucalyptus forest. The presence of the park has protected Noosa from over-development, with only low-level architecture permitted in the town. Visiting the National Park, which is accessed by a walkway from Hastings Street, is almost guaranteed to reward you with the sight of a koala snoozing in a gum tree. Between July and November, the lookout areas on the headland are a great place to spot migrating Humpback whales.
