Australian Capital Territory Holidays Planner

A trip to ACT is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Ride Canberra's mountain bike trails, or explore Lake Burley Griffin on a paddle-boat and take in the natural landscape. In the city, visit the imposing political centre of the nation, Parliament House, and get the chance to view Parliamentary proceedings in the public gallery. While you're there, stopover at The National Gallery of Australia to see the extensive Aboriginal art collection. During the winter months, take a trip to the pristine peaks of Perisher Blue for snow-sports. In the warmer months, visit Namadgi National Park for an excellent range of walking tracks or go rock-climbing at Booroomba Rocks.

The capital city of Canberra remains the urban centre of ACT and a base camp for travellers interested in exploring the surrounding areas of ACT. Divided by Lake Burley Griffin, the northern end of the city has many points of interest such as the Australian War Memorial while the south houses the parliamentary triangle as well as the central shopping and commercial area of the city known as the "Civic". National parks are a short drive away from the city, while capital country regions can be easily accessed along Poacher's Way.
