rajasthan holiday and accomodation guide

Hot, dry Rajastan has plenty to see. The Thar Desert and some of India's most famous cities are here. There are numerous temples, forts, and some excellent game viewing opportunities. The tourist industry is very well developed and there are numerous ways to get around and enjoy the sights. This area is attractive to budget travellers, but you can also stay in considerable luxury in the cities. While you're here, you should try some indigenous specialities – the yoghurt-based lassi, gulab jamun, which are not dissimilar to doughnuts, and some spicy samosas.

Jodhpur is dominated by the spectacular Mehrangarh Fort, which sits on a peak above the city. You can tour the fort to see the fascinating interior halls, and you can also take a unique 'zip slide' tour of the fort, where you get around on a flying fox while being given a guided tour. There are also numerous ways to see the desert, including camel safaris, jeep safaris, hot air balloon rides, and many other excursions. Classy and romantic Udaipur has an enormous palace, two lakes and numerous other attractions. It particularly attracts well-heeled tourists and couples, but has a range of accommodation and restaurants and anyone will enjoy this beautiful city.
