Situated in the Andaman sea, Phuket has some spectacular beaches that would be wasted without a day spent snorkelling or trying your hand at any number of watersports. Many resorts also offer the opportunity to spend a day golfing on gorgeous tropical greens. Taking a speedboat trip to Phang Nga Bay with its spectacular limestone cliffs, will allow you to explore Phuket's many surrounding islands as well as visit the areas many caves. At night head to Soi Bangla in Patong Beach. From beer gardens to Go-Go bars, the area has over 100 spots to spend the night partying away.
Phuket-Patong
Most of Phuket's most popular tourist beaches are located on the south coast, while up north is home to less congested but no less spectacular locations. Koh Phi Phi and Patong Beach are the largest and have a number of beach resorts in the area. Karon Beach offers more budget-friendly options alongside more luxurious accommodation. To the north of Patong, Kamala Beach has a quaint small town feel with quieter beaches to get away from the tourist crush. Kata Yai is known for its good surf, and Rawai, Mittraphap and Laem Ka are starting points for a number of local island tours.
