East Anglia Holidays Guide
England, Europe
Northeast of London, in miles of rolling fields and countryside, lays East Anglia. The counties Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk are all here. Hard to believe that in just an hour's drive from London you are in such a rural place. East Anglia has four main cities, Norwich in Norfolk, Peterborough in Cambridgeshire, St Albans in Hertfordshire and of course Cambridge. Great Yarmouth along the Norfolk coast is a lovely little seaside town and popular with holiday makers. Offering picturesque beaches and great campsite accommodation, very family orientated. Another place families and singles will love is Southend-on-Sea, on the Essex coast, again a popular choice with tourists. As well as being a seaside town Southend is known for its buzzing nightlife and stag and hen weekends.

The Norfolk Broads are a network of rivers and lakes set in beautiful scenery and offer Barges for rent, a wonderful way to take in the beautiful countryside views. East Anglia has its fair share of historic castles and buildings. Colchester Castle,Holkham Hall,Framlingham Castle, Sandringham House, Burgh Castle and Orford Castle are just a few to mention. Located in Bury St Edmunds in rural Suffolk is the Greene King Brewery, brewing beer since 1799. A fascinating insight into traditional beer making. Also in Suffolk and a nice family day out, is the quaint little seaside town of Southwold, with its charming pier, that some say is the best in Britain.
For animal lovers or those that just enjoy great grounds and gardens, a trip to Africa Alive!, a zoo in Lowestoft, is the best in the east of England, a great day out for all the family. To see all of East Anglia its recommended you hire a car, although public transport is good a car will take you more off the beaten track. For food a must is eating at one of the many hundreds of traditional pubs dotted all over and offering great English food at reasonable prices. For more up-market restaurants and a diverse cuisine the towns and cities offer a wide variety. With such a good choice of different places to stay (guesthouse, b&b, barge, hotel) East Anglia is a warm and friendly destination
