The Northern Islands is renowned as Fiji's rainforest, sailing and scuba diving experience. Savusavu Town boasts a picturesque marina and a small town with lots of cafes and restaurants. Savusavu Bay is surrounded by beautiful tropical rain forests and mangrove estuaries making it a wonderful place to explore. The Rainbow Reef between Vanua Levu and Taveuni is Fiji's most renowned coral reef with spectacular soft corals, the great white wall and lots of marine life. The Garden Island of Taveuni has some wonderful rainforest parks and hiking trails with great views and waterfalls and colourful parrots and other endemic birds. There's lots of accommodation for discerning travellers from upmarket boutique eco-resorts to forest lodges and although beaches are scarce, there are several stunning beach settings. Offshore from Taveuni are several beautiful islands with stunning beaches backed by lush tropical rainforest.
