Rarotonga is a pleasant tropical land with lots of accommodation and restaurants and lovely sand beaches. Aitutaki Lagoon is more laid back - a true South Seas Isle with stunning small uninhabited islands within its lagoon that are ideal for day cruises. Atiu and the other eastern islands are less attractive with rugged limestone coastlines and unusual inland caves, whilst the remote atolls of the Northern Cooks are so isolated that few people live there (except black pearl farmers) and few people visit.
