Marlborough Holidays
South Island, New Zealand
Marlborough is the first district you'll encounter when disembarking on the South Island after the 3 hour ferry journey from Wellington. The ferry trip itself is regarded as one of the best tourist experiences in New Zealand, with the ships winding their way through the spectacular Marlborough and Queen Charlotte sounds to reach the picturesque port of Picton.

In Picton you can enjoy a meal beside the historic port, or walk some of many spectacular trails which line the Queen Charlotte Sound. Tucked away between rolling green hills and the sea you'll find a variety of small friendly guest houses, farm-stays and B&Bs, or for a taste of authentic country New Zealand, stay in one of the high country farm estates in the area.
The Marlborough region is known for its world-class Sauvignon Blanc wineries, and you can base yourself in the town of Blenheim for tours of the historic vineyards and cellar doors. Farther up the Wairau Valley you'll find the forest clad foothills of the Richmond and St Arnaud ranges, perfect for day or overnight walking tours.
