If you're in Los Angeles, one thing you really should do if you have the chance is go on a tour of Universal Studios. You can experience the special effects stage and feel an earthquake, visit the 3D set of a film like King Kong, and ride various movie-themed rides including virtual roller coasters. It's great family oriented fun.
If you are a real film buff you can call ahead and arrange private tours of different movie and television studios in the Los Angeles area. Because filming may be occurring there may be an age limit to these tours.
Another thing that you may want to do while in the area is attend a taping of your favourite live show. A lot of game shows and talk shows still tape with a live audience and you can arrange before your trip for a ticket to attend. Who knows? If it's a game show, you may end up bringing home some prizes you won on your vacation.
Many people enjoy taking a tour of the Beverly Hills area to see the mansions of their favourite Hollywood celebrities or to visit the Walk of Fame. There are many tour companies that offer guided tours of these areas and tickets can be easily arranged.
Close by Los Angeles in Anaheim are various theme parks like Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. These are great options if you have children, but increasingly adults consider them vacation destinations even when they don't have kids. You can often spot honeymooning couples touring the resorts. The parks are a bit too much to explore in a single day and the three day pass is probably the better option. Knott's Berry Farm is also great for rides like the massive roller coaster, Montezuma's Revenge.
While in town in Los Angeles, and if they're in town, it might be fun to take in a game of one of the sports teams like the L.A. Lakers or the L.A. Kings.
