Colorado Holidays & Accommodation
USA, North America
Colorado has some incredibly varied geography, with deserts, plains, and – of course – the southern Rocky Mountains. The people of Colorado love to bike, hike, and they enjoy their winter sports as well. It is a great place for skiers, with dozens of ski resorts including the world famous Aspen and Vail ski resorts. The capital city of Colorado, Denver, is known as the Mile High City because of its high altitude and it approaches the record for the most annual sunshine of any city in the U.S. Even on cool days, the sky remains clear and blue. Some activities that you may want to take up while in Colorado include hot air ballooning, fishing, white water rafting and mountain biking.

The state's access to the Rocky Mountains has made this a popular destination for skiers and many visitors arrive in Denver's airport with skis or snowboards in tow. They have often arrived to explore favourite resort towns like Vail or Aspen or any one of many other ski resorts situated throughout Colorado. Many of these ski facilities are located in resort towns that provide access to hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, and entertainment; everything you could want to make your vacation memorable.
One unconventional vacation choice that you can explore in Colorado is hot air ballooning. With a guide you can try out this unique activity and drift in the clouds during one of Colorado's uniquely clear days. Cities where ballooning is popular include Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail.
White water rafting through the rivers of Colorado is another exciting occupation you may want to take up while visiting this state. High in the Rockies, many of these white water excursions take place in the midst of spectacular mountain scenery.
Mountain biking is something to explore as well. You can rent mountain bikes to explore the legendary Colorado Trail, it is five hundred miles long from Denver to Durango, but you can choose to cycle or hike only a portion of it!
Boulder is also worth a visit; it is known both as a premier destination for hippies and for its liberal leanings. It is a university town, and has a reputation for high health and wellness rankings. The Boulder International Film Festival is gaining ground on the world stage and may be worth checking out if you're in the area.
