Los Angeles is where the beautiful people hang – and you can have a beautiful and romantic holiday there. Hollywood is the most famous destination – stroll along Sunset Boulevard, go for a drink on Melrose Avenue, and enjoy the cool shops and excellent nightlife. Head to Eastside for a funkier vibe, and to enjoy the many parks in the area. Elsewhere in California, the Napa Valley is a fabulously romantic destination. There are some excellent spa hotels, classy restaurants, and you can visit vineyards or do a wine tour. You'll love it!
Hawaii has several spots that are excellent for romance, but Kauai and Maui are outstanding destinations. Hanalei is a pretty, old-fashioned seaside town with a laid back vibe, and is perfect for couples. Swim together on secluded Lumahai Beach, and shop for curios and paintings in Hanapepe. You can also visit waterfalls, the Waimea Canyon and Koke'e State Park, and enjoy the beautiful and dramatic Na Pali Coast. Maui is bigger and somewhat busier, but you'll still find plenty to enjoy. Walk in the forests to see the lush greenery and waterfalls, and head to the beaches to relax. Take a cruise in the hope of spotting whales and dolphins, and visit Haiku to see both rainforests and a lovely shoreline.
Chile has a fantastic, laid back Spanish vibe, and is a wonderful and romantic destination. You should definitely check out the nightlife and theatre scene of Santiago – in fact, you could probably spend your whole trip there! But there's plenty to see elsewhere in the country. La Serena is a beautiful city with a Japanese garden, and within easy reach of a beach where you can see penguins and dolphins. Further south, in Villarrica, you can soak in hot springs together, enjoy a picnic in the countryside, go pony-trekking and swim in the nearby lake.
Argentina has several cities that romantics will love. Salta is a lovely place – take a cable car up into the mountains and enjoy the view from the top, and enjoy the Pajcha Museum, which is full of fascinating exhibits. Several wine companies in the region offer tasting tours. The Train de las Nubes, or Train into the Clouds, will give you a wonderful journey into the peaks, and allow you to see some amazing scenery – although the route is so high-altitude that oxygen masks are available on board. Back in the city, you can enjoy the nightlife and restaurants, and end the day in one of the many cosy hotels. Buenos Aires is another obvious destination, although very busy, and you can check out hot and sizzling Mendoza – try renting a mountain cabin in the region to get away from it all.
Toronto is a vibrant, multicultural city and an excellent choice for a romantic holiday. Visit the CN Tower together, which is one of the highest structures in North America – the view from the top is amazing. Stroll in the gardens of Spadina House. Black Creek is a reconstructed pioneer village where you can wander the streets and feed the ducks. Go to the Distillery District to enjoy restaurants and cafes, and then round off the evening with a trip to the theatre. You can also take a cruise to the Toronto Island, and walk on the shores of Lake Ontario.
